Speaker 1:

Hey, welcome to this healing and deliverance tool. My name is Dr Gilbert Mocchi and I'm honored and delighted to share the Word of God with you. In a moment. You will join me in the sanctuary so that we can continue with our teaching dealing with stubborn demons. Hey, have you been involved in a deliverance session where demons refuse to come out? Or maybe you witnessed one and you are left with questions. Maybe you have your loved one and you want them healed. Well, the disciples of Jesus Christ were involved in a deliverance session and the demon refused to come out. When Jesus casted out that demon later on, the disciples of Jesus asked him privately why could we not cast out that demon? Well, Jesus used that to bring a teaching, vital truths which we are trying to learn so that we can know reasons why some demons won't come out. Not only that, we also want to get to answers. What do we need to do so that we can have more success and see our loved ones released from oppression? Well, join me into the sanctuary, let's share in the word of God and at the end of the teaching, I will be back with some concluding remarks. So don't go away so that we can finish up together and for the moment, let's get into the sanctuary. See you there, Hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

All right, we continue with our lesson. We started last week. We were in Mark, chapter 9. So go to Mark, chapter 9, verse 14. And let's read that, and then we will carry on from where we left. Mark 9, verse 14,. And let's read that, and then we will carry on from where we left Mark 9, verse 14.

Speaker 2:

We saw last week real quickly here that Jesus had come from the mountain of transfiguration and he found his nine other disciples in the midst of an argument with the scribes and there was a crowd there. So he asked what's going on, what is this argument about? So one man showed up there and said Lord, I brought my son to you, I had brought my son to you, and your disciples tried to cast out the demon, the devil. He described what the demon was doing to the child and it is his only child. Luke tells us it is his only child. And they could not. And we saw the response of Jesus last week, that Jesus almost scolded the people. He was broken, he was disappointed. He said oh, faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear you? So, in other words, jesus expected that the disciples will be able to do that deliverance, but they could not. They tried, it did not work. And we saw how he had given them power and authority over demons, every demon, and every sickness and disease. We saw that last time. I don't want to repeat all that I said but, beloved, we are faced with a challenge in the church Maybe you didn't watch last week.

Speaker 2:

The church of Christ is faced with challenges every day. If you are dealing with a deliverance, you will encounter situations that almost look impossible. What shall we do? So the church has developed mechanisms of those we think they cannot be helped. We try to push them away from the church. We don't want to deal with that, we want to stay in our comfort zone.

Speaker 2:

But we looked at what the church should look like. We went to one part in the book of Acts, in chapter 5, and we saw it was the opposite. People were getting those who were demon-possessed outside. They see a demon possessed man outside and they say there is help in the church, and they drag those who are demon-possessed and bring them to church. And sometimes it was not even possible to get to where the church was meeting because many people were coming, and so they would lay them on the road, just so that at least the shadow of Peter will fall on some of them and they will get their healing. So the church, the church that Jesus created, the church that Jesus founded, was a triumphant church, was a church that had answers For the world. Hallelujah, that is what God intends for us Church.

Speaker 2:

And we are not going to settle for anything other than the perfect will. We have been singing here Lord, let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. All right, what was happening in the book of Acts is the will of God. The disciples were doing the will of God, and I don't know where the church lost it. We have to retrace back our route. Where did the church lose the power? We want to look at how do we deal, because God is preparing us. God is preparing us.

Speaker 2:

As I've been studying, I realized God has to allow us to say things that must align with the way he works. There is no shortcut, and so the disciples were not able to deliver this boy. So let's get now to look at what are the reasons. What reasons do we see Jesus giving for the failure? Because the failure of the disciples, then, is the failure of the church today, and we'll see some amazing things. I'm telling you, as I am studying, I'm saying, lord, there is so much to learn. Every time I get into the Word of God, I am amazed. I'm saying, lord, no wonder I am not seeing some things yet, because there is so much. But the Lord is revealing this again and again, because he wants us to be successful. He wants to be glorified by the works and the power that we will see in the church, hallelujah. So reason number one, okay. So, reason number one, okay. Reason number one why they were not able to deal with it.

Speaker 2:

He said it is unbelief, right there, unbelief, reason number one, unbelief, verse 19, where we have read when the man finished saying I brought my son to you and your disciples tried to deliver him, but they could not. You know, I had another brother, he's called Isaiah. He said one time the Lord spoke to him and told him when we go to heaven as a church, there are some parents who will say to us I brought you my son church and you could not help him. My son had a problem, my wife had a problem and he was in your church and you could not help him. That hit me hard, because the church is supposed to have a help, we are supposed to have answer. And so the moment he said, but they could not, verse 19,. Jesus answered him and said oh, faithless generation, how long shall I be? So what was the problem? He saw? He saw that they were faithless.

Speaker 2:

Now that word is also called unbelief. Remember, we will come there. We will come there if you go right at the end. They ask why could we not cast it out? He said because of your unbelief. I will show you that we will come back there, but for the moment, that word faithless I want us to look at that Because, oh, my goodness Right, I want us to look at that because, oh, my goodness right, I want us to understand unbelief, beloved unbelief. What is unbelief? Because that is where our problem, that is our greatest problem in the church Unbelief, and you will understand it in a moment. So I want you. This is the greatest in a moment, this is the greatest To me, this is the greatest, and if we get this one, then the others will be easy. What is unbelief Now?

Speaker 2:

Unbelief comes from the Greek word there epistia, epistia, a-p-i-s-t-i-a, a-p-i-s-t-i-a, epistia. That's not the correct pronunciation, though, but that's the Greek word. It means that there are three meanings for that word. Okay, the one Jesus said oh, faithless generation. He talked about all of them, and we will look in a little bit. We'll look in there so that we can understand where the unbelief was coming. Okay, give me a second. I am coming. All right.

Speaker 2:

Epistia means unfaithfulness or faithless. That's one meaning Unfaithfulness. If you are unfaithful, that means if you are untrustworthy, you cannot be trusted, like he expected the disciples to be able to be trusted, but they could not be trusted. All right, he calls them unfaithful. They were unfaithful, faithless, unfaithful. They were unfaithful, faithless.

Speaker 2:

Number two it means want of faith. Your faith is wanting, your faith is failing. Want of faith or unbelief? It's the same meaning Want of faith or unbelief. And number three weakness of faith. So Jesus was saying you guys have a weak faith, your faith is weak, your faith is weak. And church, as we will see in a moment, we will see in a moment, that is the problem we are facing and until we face it head on, we will not see the breakthrough that God wants us to have. But we are going to see because we are learning, and then we will give the antidote. What is the cure for unbelief will give the antidote. What is the cure for unbelief? But for the moment I want you to see unbelief. What is unbelief? Okay, let me slow down here.

Speaker 2:

That word unbelief in our English understanding, when we say and it tells us it is lack of belief. Right, like we say, and forgiveness, that means he has not forgiven, and believe that means he does not believe. Does that make sense? Okay, and that is from our English version. But this word here, this word here, it doesn't mean oh, this is sweet.

Speaker 2:

It does not mean that the guys were not believing in Jesus. No, they needed to believe in Jesus. Their faith should have been on Jesus, on the name of Jesus. Remember, when he had sent them out, the disciples were casting out demons in the name of, and when they came back, they said Lord, even the spirits were subject to us in your name. Okay, are you with me? Follow me. Follow me because I'm teaching. Now. You cannot scream out people and you have to teach. Some things have to be taught, so I have to go slowly. So when we are saying unbelief, it does not mean that they were not believing in Jesus. Yes, but their faith in Jesus had some. Their faith in the Lord was not complete, was not complete. Oh, my goodness. I don't know whether I will take that one, because it's very important for us to understand.

Speaker 2:

They believe in Jesus, and that's where we are as a church, as believers. We believe, we believe in God, we believe in the word, but there is still something lacking. If you ask a normal, a nominal Christian, even a nominal Christian, they believe God can do anything, or everyone believes God can do anything. We believe God can do the impossible. He can because he is God. We believe that we don't have a problem with that. God can do anything. God is a healer. Our God heals, but there is a threshold, there is a level, there is a place that we are not reaching. That is where unbelief comes in.

Speaker 2:

Unbelief is please write this one, write down Right on Unbelief is having incomplete understanding of the mission and the work Christ has done. Unbelief is having incomplete, incomplete understanding of the person of Christ, the mission of Christ and the work that Jesus. We have some, but we don't have complete understanding of what Jesus has already done. Now I want you to see that unbelief is so powerful that even Jesus himself was unable to do miracles. He was unable as long as there was unbelief. Okay, you will understand what I am saying. That is a wrong understanding. Let's go to let me, I'll teach. I'll not rush, I will teach until we get it.

Speaker 2:

Let's go to Mark, chapter 6. Just a few scriptures, a few pages behind it, because you're already in Mark. You're in Mark, chapter 9. But let's go to Mark, chapter 6. Okay, we will read from verse 4. Mark, chapter 6, from verse 4.

Speaker 2:

Now, if you read from verse 1, you will see Jesus had come back to his hometown where he grew up as a boy, where he grew up as a young man and became a carpenter until he was 30 years of age that is another age and so, and then when his time came, he went to where John the Baptist was baptizing and he was baptized with the Holy Spirit. He was baptized by John and the Holy Spirit came upon him and he went to the wilderness for 40 days. He came back with anointing. He came back to Capernaum. He did miracles, wonders, signs and wonders in Capernaum. He did miracles, wonders, signs and wonders in Kapano. And then afterwards Jesus came to his hometown, nazareth, where he grew up. You can read that from verse 1 to 3, up to verse 3. And when he, I have to read this Okay, mark, chapter 6, verse 1.

Speaker 2:

Then he went out from there and he came to his own country and the disciples followed him. I mean Mark, chapter 6, verse 2. And when the Sabbath had come, he began to teach in the synagogue and many hearing, were astonished, saying where did this man get these things? Were astonished, saying when did this man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to him that such mighty works are performed by his hands? Is this not the carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James and Joseph and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us? So they were offended at him. Okay, now keep that in mind.

Speaker 2:

Verse 4. But Jesus said to them A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his relatives and in his own house. Now, verse 5,. Now he could do no mighty work there except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them, and he marveled because of their unbelief. Then he went about the village in a circuit, teaching. Do you see that? So Jesus has come to his own country, his own people. They have heard what he was doing in Capernaum.

Speaker 2:

If you go and look in Luke, chapter 4, he went into the synagogue, he took the Isaiah prophecy and he read the spirit of the Lord God is upon me, and for he has anointed me, he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted. So, jesus, now Jesus has gotten into his people and they hear him teach, they hear the word and they're saying what manner of wisdom is this? What kind of power has this guy got? Where has he got? Oh, instead of them celebrating, celebrating the mighty works, and say, oh, our own son, our own, he grew up here. But, god, you know, you guys are reading here Mark, chapter 6. Actually, he had read Isaiah, chapter 61. The spirit of the Lord. You can go and see that in all in Luke, chapter 4, verse 18, the Spirit of the Lord.

Speaker 2:

He told them why he was doing what he was doing, that God has anointed me to heal the broken, to preach the gospel, to set the cup. God himself has anointed. He was telling them I am the Messiah. And when he put the scroll down, when he put the Bible down, we'll call it the Bible. It was just a scroll down. He told them these words are fulfilled in your hearing today. In other words, I am the one that was promised in the word and God is fulfilling them. And the Bible says.

Speaker 2:

They started saying what is this guy telling us? You see, instead of them accepting him as the Messiah, as the one that has been sent to help them, they started saying we know this guy. We know the mother. The mother is here, married. We know the brother, joseph Simon. We know the sisters. What is this here, married? We know the brothers, joseph Simon. We know the sisters. What is this guy telling us? And the Bible says they were offended. What? And Jesus marveled. I want you to take that. Jesus marveled at the.

Speaker 2:

There are only two places in the Bible that calls Jesus to marvel, only two. One he marveled at Anubis, and number two he marveled at the greatness of the faith of a man who was a centurion. He was not even an Israelite, this guy who came and said Lord, you don't need to come into my house, just say the word and my servant will be healed. He was a centurion, he was not even praying for himself, asking for help, asking for the servant to be healed. And Jesus said, said wow, he was like. He said my good, I have not seen, not even in israel, that kind of faith. He marveled.

Speaker 2:

Now the other place, in marvel, he marveled the unbelief, unbelief of his own people, where he grew up, where he grew up as a boy. Because they're saying we know this guy, we know he made the chair for me, he made a table for me, he's a carpenter. This guy is a carpenter. What is he telling us? That he is the Messiah. And they were offended. The Bible tells us something very, very sad Jesus could do no mighty works there because of their unbelief. Why? Why? Why? Because of their unbelief. Because of their unbelief, he could not do mighty works. Think for a moment about that. This is Jesus. He has been doing mighty miracles, miracles, and this guy is hard about the miracles that he did. And then he comes to his own people, where he grew up. Maybe he knew Jane, maybe he knew Daniel, maybe he knew the very people he grew up with. The Bible says he couldn't help them. He could not do anything except he laid his hands on a few guys and healed them. I don't know whether he tried. He tried to heal and do some mighty works and it didn't work. And he marveled. He marveled.

Speaker 2:

What am I saying, beloved, believing wrong things about Jesus, not having a full revelation of what God has done, will limit us in the hand of God. Belief Will limit us seeing the hand of God Belief. I am not saying that we don't believe in Jesus. I want you to understand it. We believe he is the Messiah. We believe that he came. He paid for our sin. He is the Lord. He paid for our sin, no-transcript.

Speaker 2:

But when we are challenged by a situation, our faith falters. We are worried, we are concerned. Is it true? Is it going to work? Do you know? Do you know we talk about and we confess, especially in the charismatic and Pentecostal we talk about, by his stripes. We are healed by his stripes. We are. Do you know, if you get a true revelation? If you just and I'm talking to all those who are listening to me if you go and study, do your own.

Speaker 2:

Study Isaiah chapter 53. Isaiah chapter 53, isaiah chapter 53. Where it talks about what God promised. Read the Greek, read the Hebrew, understand the plan of God for healing, get a revelation of healing. I am telling you, some sicknesses will just have to go, because faith comes by hearing what God has said. But our understanding is insufficient. Now, this is a hard teaching, but we have to understand. So unbelief hindered Jesus. He wanted to bring help to his own people. He went to his own home country, but he could not do those mighty works.

Speaker 2:

Now, when we try to talk about unbelief, people start beginning to think oh, pastor, you are bringing condemnation that we don't have enough faith. It's not about condemnation. The Bible says there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. We are not trying to get ourselves condemned. We are not trying to get ourselves condemned. We are trying to have our eyes opened so that we can grab what we need to grab Now.

Speaker 2:

I wanted to bring in now so that you can see what was happening with this. When we come now to wrap up the unbelief in the groups of people who were around, you will marvel and understand why this boy was not healed Now. We can't start now because our time is up. Looks like just speaking. That has taken all the time, but it is important because unbelief and I will teach some things about unbelief that will help us, because I am learning and I am growing and I wanted to learn and grow up and begin to deal with the stubborn demons, stubborn powers. Bring them down, hallelujah. We will carry on from there. We'll begin with that unbelief coming Sunday as we try now to unravel the amount of unbelief that was going on when this boy was coming for deliverance on when this boy was coming for deliverance.
