Dealing With Stubborn Demons- Causes Of Deliverance Failures (Part 4)

Dr. Gilbert Mwachia

Besides unbelief, what are the other reasons that make casting out demons difficult? In this episode we dive deeper into other causes of deliverance failures. Did Jesus encounter stubborn demons? What do we learn from Him? We wanna have more success in our war against demonic forces. God says in His word, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Come along with me and let's learn some more. Seeing ourselves and those around us set free is what we desire.

Speaker 1:

Hey, welcome to this healing and deliverance tool. My name is Dr Gilbert Muchi and I'm honored and delighted to share the Word of God with you. In a moment. You will join me in the sanctuary so that we can continue with our teaching dealing with stubborn demons. Hey, have you been involved in a deliverance session where demons refuse to come out? Or maybe you witnessed one and you are left with questions. Maybe you have your loved one and you want them healed. Well, the disciples of Jesus Christ were involved in a deliverance session and the demon refused to come out. When Jesus casted out that demon later on, the disciples of Jesus asked him privately why could we not cast out that demon? Well, jesus used that to bring a teaching, vital truths which we are trying to learn so that we can have more success and see our loved ones released from oppression. Well, join me into the sanctuary, let's share in the word of God and at the end of the teaching I will be back with some concluding remarks. So don't go away so that we can finish up together, and for the moment, let's get into the sanctuary. See you there, amen. So let's go to our word in Mark, chapter 9 and verse 14. Then we'll carry on from where we had left. This is a continuation of the teaching that we have been sharing about dealing with the stubborn demons Mark 9, verse 14.

Speaker 1:

We looked last time at the subject of unbelief that the reason number one was unbelief. We have defined what unbelief is and we saw last time at the different levels of unbelief that were present during this time of deliverance. And so we saw number one the scribes. They were always in unbelief. They were just looking for a reason to finish Jesus, and so they didn't want to believe on the claims of Jesus. That's what unbelief is refusing what Jesus has said about himself. And so we saw that. Then the second thing we saw last time that not only were the Pharisees in unbelief, the crowds themselves. The crowds themselves were in unbelief. So how frequently Jesus will remove the crowd so that he can have an atmosphere? He knew that unbelief is a hindrance to the workings of God in the spirit. We saw how, even when he went in his hometown, he himself was unable to do miracles because of the unbelief that was prevailing. And then the third thing the big group we saw were the disciples themselves. We looked at the disciples, how that Jesus answered their question how that Jesus answered their question. When the disciples came privately, they asked the Lord why could we not cast the demon out? And Jesus answered pointedly it was because of your unbelief. Let's go to reason number two.

Speaker 1:

The second reason is that a demon has high power. I will explain that. One of the reasons why there is failure in deliverance is because a demon, or some demons, have high power. You have to understand that demons are not the same in their abilities and in their working. When I'm talking about demons having high power, we have to have at the back of our minds that we have authority over all demons. Okay, that is our legal right through Jesus Christ.

Speaker 1:

Remember in Luke, chapter 10, verse 19,. He says Behold, I give you power and authority to trample over snakes and scorpions and over all the powers of the enemy. Now, the enemy has powers, but we have been given authority and power over all demons. But demons love to offer resistance and the amount of resistance and stubbornness you receive from certain demons is higher than what you will receive in some other demons. Let me explain this. I want us to see how demons are arranged in different order. Us to see how demons are arranged in different order when Jesus talked about a demon coming out in Matthew, chapter 12, matthew 12, verse 43,.

Speaker 1:

When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places seeking rest and finds none. Then he says I will return to my house, from which I came. When he comes he finds it empty, swept and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits, more wicked that's what I wanted you to see More wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall I be also with this wicked generation. What is that showing us? A spirit has been cast out from a body and then it goes out and looks and comes back, and then it looks for seven other demons more wicked. In other words, it is looking for reinforcement from other spirits that are much stronger. In other words, it is saying I was removed out of my house because somebody came in with some strength and power that I could not resist. Now I need help. I will not come in and stay in this body alone because I don't have that strength. So it goes out and invites seven other demons that are much stronger than itself so that they can live in that body and have that comfort.

Speaker 1:

So demons are in different hierarchy. What we need to see, like when we go to Ephesians chapter 6, we will not go there. We have to understand demons are arranged in order in color. In some hierarchy the kingdom of Satan is well organized In Luke chapter 6, where it says in Luke chapter sorry, I'm sorry, I mean Ephesians chapter six where he says we wrestle, from verse 12, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly. So principalities are the top order, so principalities, and then rulers, and then spiritual forces of wickedness, and then a host down here of the demons that we encounter, who are also in different levels of power and authority.

Speaker 1:

So sometimes we are dealing with a very strong demon and demons are stubborn. Somebody may say, well, but we have power, which is true. We have power, we have authority. Why should demons defy us? It's because of the nature of the demons. And I would like you to see, I would like you to see all right, I'd like you to see that even Jesus, even Jesus himself, encountered a spirit, encountered a demon-possessed man who was stubborn. The spirit was a stubborn spirit. All right, let me take you to Mark, chapter 5. Go to Mark, chapter 5. Somebody will say oh why, why should they? Why should they? Why should they Go to Mark chapter 5.?

Speaker 1:

If you read from verse 1, there is that demon-possessed man of the Gadareans, mark, chapter 5. All right, mark, chapter 5. We areareans, mark, chapter 5. All right, mark, chapter 5. We are studying here, mark, chapter 5. Right, I want to read from verse 3. All right, I have to start all the way from verse 1. Mark, chapter 5 from verse 1.

Speaker 1:

Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadareans. They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes when he had come out of the boat. Immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit who had his dwelling among the tombs and no one could bind him, not even with the chains, because he had often been bound with the shackles and chains and the chains had been pulled apart by him and the shackles broken in pieces. Neither could anyone tame him. Always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones. When he saw Jesus from afar off, he ran and worshipped him and he cried out with a loud voice and said what have I to do with you, jesus, son of the Most High? I implore you, by God, that you do not torment me. Verse 8, for he said to him come out of the man, come out of the man and clean spirit. Then he asked him what is your name? And blah, blah, blah. You can continue.

Speaker 1:

Now what I wanted to see here, beloved, is that verse 8. Jesus is confronted by a man who has a legion of demons, and this is a lunatic man. The guy has lost his mind. He's living in the tomb. We are told. He has been bound by chains. He has been cutting iron chains. Nobody could tame him. He was living. So when he came into the scene, when he came into the scene and met Jesus that verse 8,.

Speaker 1:

If you go and read that verse 8 in modern translations, you will see that Jesus had commanded the demon to come out and the demon didn't come out. I'm slowing down because I want you to see that I don't know if anybody has an Amplified Bible. I do have it here, amplified Bible, the same one of verse 8. The amplified Bible for those of you I know you can get into your phone very easily Mark, chapter 5, verse 8. Let me just read verse 8. Amplified version it shows us. It amplifies some of the meanings that we have lost in the process of translation. Okay, that's why it's amplified from the Greek.

Speaker 1:

Now look at verse 8 in the Greek. It says for Jesus was commanding come out of the man, you unclean spirit. Did you see that? So this is what was happening. The man was coming from the tombs and Jesus was coming from the lake. And when Jesus saw this demon-possessed man, he started commanding that demon, come out of the man. He said he was commanding for. He said that demon, come out of the man. He said he was commanding for his sexual. Come out of the man. The demons refused. They didn't come out and they started shouting you want to talk to me? I know you. What do I have to do with you?

Speaker 1:

Jesus of Nazareth, the demons were being commanded by Jesus come out, come out, you unclean spirit. But the demons did not come out. They started making noise, they defied Jesus and Jesus began a conversation with the demons. Where were the demons? They were still in the man, but it says he was commanding, but they were still inside. Say what is your name? And then they say, oh, my name is Legion because we are many. And then, of course, it continues there and eventually they begged. They were begging, they didn't want to leave until they asked to go to a pig. Now, here is a key brethren, here is a key brethren, here is a key brethren and sisters, if you are involved with deliverance for long enough, you will encounter demons that are stubborn that you command them and they refuse to go out. Jesus commanded this and they fight, but Jesus persisted until he got the deliverance, which brings us now to the third point. So, number two, some demons. Or, before I go there, what is my experience? There are some demons that are very, very stubborn, like the demon of epilepsy. That's a very strong demon, a demon of somebody who has gone crazy, lunatic. Those are demons that are strong.

Speaker 1:

I remember one time I was conducting healing in one of the towns not even in my church, but one of the neighboring towns in my country and they brought a woman from the street who was crazy, a mad woman. She was moving out and dressing herself, she was an educated woman, but then she had gone crazy and was walking. She had lived down in the. I was told she had been in Mombasa Mombasa is our second largest city there and become crazy, brought by the family. And now she was around and I was doing meetings and this woman was brought in the meeting during the prayer. I will never forget what I witnessed, what I experienced during that prayer time Spraying for the sick and people were getting healed and then it came the time of this woman. Wow, this is an experience I have not had ever again. I only had that experience once in my life.

Speaker 1:

I laid hands on that lunatic woman and it was like electricity. I backed off because when I put my hands on her it was as though I had touched live water. I'm telling you this with all the truth I have. God does not love exaggeration. This is not an exaggeration. I laid my hands on the forehead of that woman and my hand was as though there was an electricity current that flowed and I moved out. I said what is that? People didn't know why. I left out and I laid my hands again on her and at the same shock. Again, I was shocked, but she went down. Okay, we commanded the demons. I don't know what happened, because she was carried away. They carried her out and the woman was taken away because we had so many other people to pray for.

Speaker 1:

Now I don't know whether she got completely delivered, but there is that lunatic spirit. It's a very bad demon, very strong demon. The spirit of suicide, somebody who has attempted to commit suicide and has not died. That demon is a very stubborn demon. If you ever trace a life of somebody who has tried to commit suicide and they didn't eventually down the line, if they are not delivered, they will still end up killing themselves. It's a very bad demon and demon of paralysis. That's a very strong. So there are some demons that when we encounter them now, we should always remember.

Speaker 1:

The Bible says in 1 John 4, verse 4, greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world. All right, so we have power. Jesus in us is greater than every demon spirit, than every power, that the enemy Greater is he. That is in 1 John 4, I think it's verse 4. But we will encounter demons like that that are very strong, very stubborn, like this damp spirit that Jesus, the disciples could not deliver. That's another very stubborn spirit, very, very stubborn. But we have to understand who we are and the purpose and what we need to do in order to deal with these stubborn demons.

Speaker 1:

Number three let's go to number three. Reason number three why deliverance fails Lack of persistence in a delivering session. This is very, very, very important Lack of persistence on the delivering team to persist until the person being delivered is set free. We somehow have this notion that when we come to a delivery, when we are dealing with a demon, all we need is to speak to that demon in the name of Jesus, come out, and that demon should come out immediately. But, beloved, it never works like that and we will see in the spirit here, in the word, in a little bit, that we are commanded to do something which this group here. We haven't done it and we have to be ready to do it. Okay, what does? We have quoted it here, but now we bring it over.

Speaker 1:

Ephesians, chapter six, verse 12 say Ephesians six, verse 12. I'm interested in one word there. If we get a revelation of that, then we are on our way to start seeing some more victory. But we have to be prepared when we know that's what God expects of us. Ephesians, chapter 6, verse 12. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. There is a word that is being repeated there against, against, against, against, against. Now that shows different level. There is a level of principle. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places. But that's not the word that I want us to get a revelation on. The key word in that verse, if you will underline this, is wrestle, wrestle. Wow.

Speaker 1:

Now Paul is saying we are in a wrestling match against forces of darkness. How many of you know what wrestling is? Right? We know what wrestling is. Wrestling is a match, is a game where each opponent is trying to pin down, the other opponent to bring down, to wrestle down, to bring down and to hold down until they cannot move, and then they have won the match. So when Paul is saying we wrestle not against flesh and blood, oh, let's get a revelation. Beloved Rattling match is not just one combat boom and you're gone.

Speaker 1:

No, so when we get into a deliverance session, we must be ready and prepared and know we are going to wrestle. We are at war and we are not fighting against humans. We are not fighting against a man, maybe a man who is manifesting some demon. No, we have no problem with the man. We have no problem with the agronautic power, we have no problem with the sea, not flesh and blood. But we are getting into a wrestling match against some powers, against some demons, against some rulers of the darkness that are operating. The person has no problem operating. The person has no problem. The problem is the spirit that is inside that person that we are going to get into a wrestling match with, and we don't know how long that wrestling match is going to be. So we are trying to pin down the whole.

Speaker 1:

No, let me just go slowly. We are trying to pin down the spirit. Do you understand? We are trying to kill them. And what are we pinning them now? We have to understand.

Speaker 1:

If I am fighting, sometimes I need the help of another one in the deliverance team to come in, because the bible says one shall chase a thousand, but two shall put ten thousand to flight. Okay, so when you join me, first of all we have to make sure there is no unbelief in our merit. We believe and we believe that this person can be helped. We are not going in to try. If we are going in to try, the Bible says the one who doubts let him know he shall receive nothing from the Lord. God operates with his rules and he doesn't bend them. So we go in. First of all, we have prepared our hearts. We are not doubting, we know it is the will of God, it is the desire of God for this person to be helped. And then we know now we are in a wrestling match and we have to pin down the enemy.

Speaker 1:

So what do we use? First of all, we have our weapons, the weapons of our warfare. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians, chapter 10, chapter 10, verse 4, 2 Corinthians 10, verse 4, that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty, through God, for pulling down stronghold. So what did, which weapon did Jesus use when he was being tempted by the devil? The word. So we have to come in with the scriptures, we have to. It is written. So, oh Lord, help me, help me train my team, help me train my team here. I want to please to understand this.

Speaker 1:

So we come with the word of God. We put the person that we want to have deliverance, we want to conduct deliverance, we want to conduct deliverance on and we start pinning down that demon, we start pinning down that devil, we hit him with the word and you know when we are doing wrestling, the person is pinned down and the referee is counting one, two before I say three. He has put the hand up so that they still know it's no game over. They start again. So sometimes we start over and somebody is using the word. There's somebody who is coming with the word what is our other weapon? The name of Jesus. So there's somebody who has scriptures.

Speaker 1:

We have power over you, like what my wife was quoting here, uh, before, before we started the service. I love that, that's very good. He says jesus went into the dead and he obtained the keys of death and heads. That's what my wife was quoting here as we were starting the service. We have to get and you know these revelations are just coming as I'm speaking. It's very interesting. It says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. So when you are quoting the word, when you are quoting scriptures, when you are saying the scriptures. When you are quoting scriptures, when you are saying the scriptures, jesus Christ won the battle against you. You were defeated on Calvary. He went to the dead. He took the keys out of you. Do you know that demon is hearing that and they don't like that. So you are pinning down with the truth. He shoots the hand. You are pinning down and I'm pinning down, and so you are quoting scriptures. You are pinning down and pinning down, and so you are quoting scriptures. You are quoting scriptures.

Speaker 1:

Somebody says quoting we are. It is a wrestling match, it is a fight. It is a war, it is a battle. It is a spiritual battle and we have to fight it. So somebody comes and there are so many scriptures. So when we are ready to do deliver, if we want our people helped, we want the team to be armed with the spiritual scriptures that bring the devil down. So that is our weapon number one. Remember we haven't finished. I'll come and teach about the spiritual armor as we get to the end.

Speaker 1:

They say and the sword of the spirit is what? The word of God, so the word. So we have to be men and women of the word. Let us know our scriptures that bring deliverance and healing and victory. If we don't have the deliverance scriptures, we are still going. It's like a army going. We are going to Baghdad, we are going for battle, but we don't have the armors to shoot. We have a soldier here. He knows no matter what name you are carrying, if you don't have the arms, if you don't have the guns, if you don't have the machinery, you are still helpless. You get it. So that is number one sword.

Speaker 1:

What is the other sword?

Speaker 1:

The name of Jesus. Right, the name of Jesus. Right, the name of Jesus. So here we are, we are in a wrestling match. And what are we doing?

Speaker 1:

We are saying in the name of Jesus, so somebody is quoting the name, so he's quoting the name, he's quoting the name. In the name of Jesus, you have to go. In the name of you have to let him go. And when we are speaking the name of you have to let him go. And when, when we are speaking the name of jesus, we are told the name of jesus and we remind the enemy that name is above every. And as you're quoting that word, your faith is rising up. Your faith is rising.

Speaker 1:

I have realized, even in my own life. I start manifesting some, some, some signs and symptoms of disease somewhere in my body, and I have to speak the word of God. And the more I speak the word of God, my faith is rising up and the sickness is going down. Why? Because faith comes by hearing. Now, you don't have to hear the spirit. It didn't say faith comes by hearing the preacher saying no, it just says faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. It doesn't matter how you hear. That is Romans, chapter 10, verse 17,. By the way, if you saw, I'm quoting Romans 10, verse 17. Faith comes by here so you can hear your own voice. You can hear your own voice and faith is arising.

Speaker 1:

Remember when I was teaching how God changed Abraham to Abraham? He wanted Abraham to begin speaking and hear himself that God has made me a father of many nations. And he kept going around and hearing his own voice. And as he heard the voice and the promise of God, something was happening to his body and the body of Sarah. Do you understand? So? So we have what we have the word word.

Speaker 1:

We have to know our word to fight, we have to know the name of Jesus. The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The name of Jesus is above every name. What is the third weapon in our wrestling match we can use? Come on, but they overcame him by the blood of the lamb, the blood of the lamb, the blood of the lamb. They overcame the demons by the blood of the lamb. I tell you the truth, beloved If there is something the devil doesn't like, it's the Lamb. I tell you the truth, beloved.

Speaker 1:

If there is something the devil doesn't like, it's a plot, if there is something that pins down the enemy, or you know, the devil was there at Calvary. He was there. He thought he was winning the battle he completely missed. If he knew what he was doing was going to be his ultimate failure, he would never have done it. But while he was clapping hands and saying he is dead, I have finished him, I have killed him. He didn't know, as those droplets of blood were falling down, that was going to be our victory.

Speaker 1:

And so it was for our atonement, it was for our cleansing, it was that the Spirit of God will come and live in a body that is unclean as mine, because it will be washed and drenched in the love of God. We are using the word, we are using the name of Jesus, we are using the plant, and so we come together, beloved, we sit, we grab, hold, we say wherever they are, because the spirit world has no boundaries. We say we are going to wrestle with this demon and we enter, we begin to speak to that demon, we quote the scriptures, we tell the scriptures. You know what is the point I am making here Is that we don't persist in our wrestling match. Here we go, we are ready to pray for the sick and sometimes it happens, beloved, we lay hands on somebody in the name of Jesus, boom, a miracle happens right there. God works sometimes like that, but sometimes God has to involve us in a wrestling match to build our faith in him.

Speaker 1:

Wish I had time to take you through different experiences. But I have different experiences. But I have a man of God that sheets is one of a great man of God. I have his book. It's called Intercessory Prayer. He went to a town and there was a man who was also paralyzed. Long story short, he prayed three days every day for that man for more than an hour for a whole year. But this guy was a guy who had tracheostomy and a feeding tube and in a coma. He had never spoken for a whole one and a half years For a whole one, and he prayed for him for one year, three days a week, for more than an hour, wrestling with that spirit of death. And the guy who had been in a coma for more than one and a half years came back and it became a story in the whole village that God has raised that man back to life Beloved.

Speaker 1:

We got to be ready to fight. We are faced with the challenges, but the problem we have is that we are a microwave generation. We want things now, and if it is going to be two minutes later, I don't want it. I am in that category. I go to the market, to the stores, and when I am buying some food I am looking at how long does it take to prepare? We are a microwave generation, but God is in the marinating business. That's what that is. My wife marinates some food, sometimes For how long Days. It's not a microwave.

Speaker 1:

God would love us to persist in prayer, align ourselves and begin to fight. Hallelujah, are we ready to do our part? Hallelujah, are we ready to do our part? Hope, you are learning and receiving something from the word of God. Well, that's all the time we have for the moment.

Speaker 1:
