Healing And Deliverance Tools

Dealing With Stubborn Demons- Causes Of Deliverance Failures (Part 3)

Dr. Gilbert Mwachia

What does it take to confront and triumph over the most resistant demons? I this episode we unravel the story of Jesus' disappointment in His disciples' inability to cast out a stubborn demon despite having the power and authority. We'll discuss how critical faith is in performing miracles and deliverance, and why unbelief can be a significant obstacle. Learn from the biblical accounts how to overcome these spiritual challenges and achieve greater success in freeing your loved ones from oppressive forces. Moreover, we'll delve into the gripping inner conflict of belief and unbelief, reflecting on the heartfelt plea of a father in Mark 9:23-24, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief." We shed light on how this conflict resonates with many of us today, including the disciples' own struggles. Acknowledging our doubts is the first step towards seeking genuine assistance from God.

Speaker 1:

Hey, welcome to this healing and deliverance tool. My name is Dr Gilbert Muchi and I'm honored and delighted to share the Word of God with you. In a moment. You will join me in the sanctuary so that we can continue with our teaching dealing with stubborn demons. Hey, have you been involved in a deliverance session where demons refuse to come out? Or maybe you witnessed one and you are left with questions. Maybe you have your loved one and you want them healed.

Speaker 1:

Well, the disciples of Jesus Christ were involved in a deliverance session and the demon refused to come out. When Jesus casted out that demon later on, the disciples of Jesus asked him privately why could we not cast out that demon? Well, jesus used that to bring a teaching, vital truths which we are trying to learn so that we can know reasons why some demons won't come out. Not only that, we also want to get to answers. What do we need to do so that we can have more success and see our loved ones released from oppression? Well, join me into the sanctuary, let's share in the word of God and at the end of the teaching, I will be back with some concluding remarks. So don't go away so that we can finish up together and for the moment, let's get into the sanctuary. See you there amen.

Speaker 1:

All right, let's go to mark chapter 9. That's where we were last sunday and we will go back there so that we can join in some of the things you have been learning. Mark chapter 9 from verse number 14.

Speaker 2:

So we have been looking at this subject through these verses dealing with the stubborn demons, right? So that's our subject, dealing with stubborn demons. And just to recap a little bit so that we can continue, we saw how Jesus came from the mountain of transfiguration with his three disciples and he found those nine other disciples in the midst of a crowd and it looks like there was a heated discussion. There was an argument going on, and when the people saw Jesus, they all ran towards him. But Jesus saw the discussion, he saw the arguments that were going on between the scribes and the other nine disciples and so he asked what's going on. He asked them what is going on, and so he asked what's going on. He asked him what is going on and we see here that one in the crowd said Master, I brought you my son, who has a mute spirit, and I asked your disciples to deal with it, to cast it out, but they could not do it. But they could not do it. So, jesus, jesus was broken by the failure of the disciples. The Bible says he said oh. When he heard that, he said oh, faithless generation, how long shall I be with you, how long shall I bear with you? Bring the son here.

Speaker 2:

Now that doesn't sound like Jesus was a happy man. He was disappointed to failure of the disciples to conduct deliverance on the child. Why was he disappointed? It's because Jesus expected that they would be able to do it and we saw in our last teachings that he had already given them power. In Luke, chapter 9, verse 1. He gave them power and authority over all unclean spirits and to cure diseases. And they had gone out and they had practiced and it worked. They came back with the report Lord, even the spirits are subject to us in your name. So when he comes back from the mountain and somebody says I have brought you my son and your disciples could not help him, jesus was disappointed. He didn't tell them oh, don't worry guys. No, that is something that is way beyond you. That is a big disease, that is something that you cannot do. Bring the son. No, he didn't say that he rebuked the disciples, he rebuked. Now we show. I'm just recapping a little bit so that we can connect and be able to continue from there.

Speaker 2:

So we saw we began last Sunday looking at unbelief, reasons why the church fails to deal with the stubborn demons, to deal with the problems and beloved, we are faced with the stubborn demons To deal with the problems and, beloved, we are faced with the challenges. And I've said I want our hearts to be stirred up. I want us to know there is an answer. There is an answer, god has an answer. For every challenge, for every problem that befalls or faces. There is an answer, but it takes us seeking, it, takes us being humble and accepting.

Speaker 2:

See where we have just read, where Jesus said all things are possible to him that believes. What does that mean? All things are possible to him that believes. What does that mean? All things? All things means everything is possible, anything is possible Beloved, either Jesus was lying or we are missing something and we know he could not lie. If he said everything is possible, all things are possible to him that believes, then it behoves us to try and find out and establish why are the reasons for our failure?

Speaker 2:

Now we looked at unbelief last time. We defined unbelief and we said unbelief is not necessarily that you don't have faith in God, all right, it doesn't mean you don't believe in Jesus, and I don't want to go through all that I shared last time, but I want you to see the level of unbelief. First of all, we say unbelief is what hinders. It's not the only reason we will see here. It's not the only reason, but it's the number one problem that we are facing as God's children. It's the number one problem that means me. I am there. It's the number one problem that means me. I am there. I am not pointing at anybody. Unbelief is what we need to deal with. Okay, so you listen a little bit and you will understand.

Speaker 2:

Unbelief prevented Jesus from doing miracles in his own hometown. That's what we saw last time. In Nazareth, where he grew up, he found so much unbelief until he marveled. The Bible says he marveled at their unbelief and he couldn't do anything for them except lay hands on a few sick folks and he walked away and he went. He started teaching. So unbelief was the problem here.

Speaker 2:

Now. Now I want you to see now let's go through who had unbelief, the group that were unbelief, in the case that we are the groups that had unbelief, so that you can see how much, why this young boy was not cured. Okay, number one the scribes themselves. We were told Jesus came in and he found the scribes arguing, arguing with the disciples. Now we know the scribes arguing, arguing with the disciples. Now we know the scribes. I don't have to describe them because it will take us unnecessary time. But these guys did not believe, they refused. They refused to believe Jesus is the Messiah, despite every reason, despite the miracles they were seeing, despite the works that they were experiencing, but they deliberately refused to believe Jesus as the Messiah and they were looking for an opportunity to bring Jesus down, because he was becoming popular, because the crowds were following, because he was stealing, like he was stealing people from their congregation, from their synagogues. So here we see the boy.

Speaker 2:

The father comes in the midst of a people who just want to argue. Now you have to understand when we start doing deliverance, the atmosphere is important, the atmosphere which we have. If it is an atmosphere of unbelief, that hinders the miracle power of God. Did you get that? I read Mark, chapter 6, verse 6. Last time, mark 6, verse 6. That Jesus himself, in his own hometown, amongst his fellow peers, where he grew up until he became a carpenter. Those are the people you would want to help most. They are your villagers, but here is Jesus. Want to help most. They are your villagers, but here is Jesus. He comes and he finds an atmosphere of unbelief and the Bible says he could not do mighty works there because of the level of unbelief. So we have the scribes, they are in unbelief. Number one I want you to see the other group that was in unbelief. The next group, that was the scribes. Now the next is the crowds. So, number one we have scribes, they are in unbelief. And then we have the crowds. When Jesus said, oh you faithless generation, he was speaking to all of them. He said the whole lot of you, you are in such unbelief. When we say faithless, we define that word Again. I don't know how I'm being drawn, but we define faithless is the same word where there is unbelief. Okay, is the same word where there is unbelief. So we have a crowd of people and these old guys are in unbelief and so they can't perform a miracle. Atmosphere is important Whenever we want to do some mighty work. We have to prepare the ground. We have to try and eliminate unbelief as much as possible.

Speaker 2:

Watch Jesus, watch Jesus. If you read the accounts in the gospel, you will see Jesus. Let me give an example of Jairus in Mark, chapter 5. Jairus calls Jesus, come and heal my daughter, and the girl died I'm just shortening the story and he tells Jairus only believe, don't worry, don't fear. Because Jairus had been told oh, don't bother the teacher anymore, your daughter is dead. And immediately Jesus turns to Jairus and say Jairus, don't fear, don't allow unbelief, don't fear, only believe, hear, believe. Hear that one, only believe. Okay. You hear that, only believe, okay. And then what happens? Jesus comes. He comes to the home of Jairus. Everyone is crying, they are mourning. Of course they were mourning. Jesus says why are you guys mourning like this? And they say oh, the daughter is dead. He says she is not dead. And they started mocking Jesus. They say you don't know what you are talking about. The girl is dead, dead, dead.

Speaker 2:

What did Jesus do? You go and read it because I don't have time, but go and read in Mark, chapter 5. You will see, jesus pushed everyone out, he chased everyone out. In fact. What is very surprising, there he stopped and took only three of his disciples. Jesus was very careful in conducting his deliverance work. He took only three of his disciples and the mother and the father, everyone else. He told them Get out of here, because why? They were all wailing, they were all making noise and the crowd of people were contributing to unbelief, and Jesus did not want to have unbelief in the atmosphere. I want you to understand. I want you to understand that the kingdom of God works with the principles and Jesus obeyed the spiritual laws of miracles happening. But today we want to have miracles, we want to see God in the holy.

Speaker 2:

So Jesus was concerned with the unbelief of the world. There was an unbelief of the crowd and then there was unbelief of the scribes. Look at number three. What else was? Who else was in unbelief? Number three the father.

Speaker 2:

Now, this will surprise you. You stay with me. You stay with me because this is where you will now understand what unbelief is. Just stay with me here. This is very important. This is very important. This is very important.

Speaker 2:

If you're watching, this is very, in fact, this is probably where the message is about the father. If you understand the father, you will understand yourself, you will understand me and we will do what we are supposed to do to begin to see the works of God. Did you hear what I said? If you understand where the father was, then you will understand me, you will understand you, you will understand the church and we will do the necessary things that we need to do in order to correct that Amen. To do in order to correct that Amen.

Speaker 2:

So the father was in an unbelief. How do we know that he was in an unbelief? Well, the demon threw the boy out, he started sitting and Jesus began to speak to the father. How long has this been happening to the boy? And the father said this has been happening from childhood. Do you know, when you have a problem that has been longstanding, it has some psychological effect in your mind. It has some psychological effect in your mind.

Speaker 2:

So, from childhood, the father cries out if you can do anything, that's where we come. If you can do anything. Now why is he putting the word? If he has tried everything? Maybe he went to the doctors. Maybe he went. Do you know? There were exorcists during those days? They were there. You know, if you read the book of Acts, chapter 16, it talks about some exorcists, even amongst the Jewish people. Maybe he took the child to an exorcist. It didn't work.

Speaker 2:

He has seen that problem for so long and this demon spirit is doing right in front of the father. It's being right in front of the father and the father says if you can do so. He wasn't sure that even Jesus could do anything, the father, you know the way Jesus answered him. That's where he says what do you mean if I can't? You know, let me read it. Let me read that verse 23 in the New Living Translation I want us to be, I want us, I want to work slowly, because this is this is where this is where you and I have to get. If we don't get this, we are finished.

Speaker 2:

In New Living Translation, verse 23,. It says this what do you mean if I can't? Jesus asked Anything is possible if a person believes. So Jesus, this man is telling Jesus Lord, if you can do anything. So he is thinking. Now it's about Jesus. Now Jesus turns it back to him and says it's not about me, it's not about my ability, it's about do you believe? Do you believe that he can? He says what do you mean if I can? That's exactly what Jesus said. What do you mean if I can? All things are possible to him that believes. Now, I haven't finished there because I'm still walking slowly.

Speaker 2:

I want you to see oh, I have to go to that scripture. Let's go back again. Let's go back to mark chapter, chapter nine, but please, I beg you, you, you have to get this, you, you have to get. Just listen to me for a moment. You have to get this. Look at verse 24. Look at verse 24. It says immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears Lord, I believe, help my unbelief. Wow, wow, wow, wow, please. This is where you and I are, this is where the church is.

Speaker 2:

This man, he says, and if you ask him, even the nominal Christian, even the smallest Christian who believes there is a God, every Christian, every true believer believes our God is a mighty God. Our God can do anything. Our God is a miracle worker. Our God can work wonders. Our God, every single believer. Why do we know that this man believed Jesus could heal the son. He brought the son to Jesus, hallelujah. He brought the son to Jesus. He said I brought my son to you, so he? It doesn't mean that he didn't, he believed, it doesn't mean that he didn't he believed.

Speaker 2:

And when Jesus, when Jesus told him, what do you mean? If I can't, it's not about me, it's about you. If you believe, then all things up, it will work out. And then he said this is what I love. I repeat that because that is critical. He said I love. I repeat there, because that is critical. He said I believe, I believe.

Speaker 2:

But then he did not stop there. He pointed out at the problem, gosh. He pointed out at the problem. He says help me overcome my unbelief. My problem is unbelief. My problem is unbelief. My problem is I believe, but still I am struggling to believe. I don't know whether I am making any sense.

Speaker 2:

Oh my God, we believe in healing. We come for healing service. We come for healing service. But we don't want to admit that we have a problem of unbelief. But this man, the reason why Jesus helped him, is because he sent a prayer to Jesus. He said Lord, it's not that I don't believe that you can heal my son. In fact, I brought him to you. It's not that I don't believe you are a healer. It's not that I don't believe you can work miracles. It's not that I don't believe you can heal my body. It's not that I don't believe you can deliver my son.

Speaker 2:

My problem is unbelief. Help me, help me overcome my unbelief, help me, help me overcome my unbelief. That is where we are failing church. We don't want to admit we have a problem of unbelief. You hear that and when we talk and when we tell the church we have a problem of unbelief, people begin to say you, you are condemning me, you are. How can you say I don't, I don't have, oh you. No, it's not condemnation. We are not getting condemned, but we are getting challenged. We want our eyes to be open. We want our eyes to be open so that we can genuinely cry out to God and say Lord, I believe by your stripes I am healed. I believe that you can do anything, lord. I believe you can heal my son, but I have a problem of unbelief. Did you get that.

Speaker 2:

We are struggling with unbelief Because Jesus meant it. He said everything is possible, all things are possible if we believe. All things are possible if we believe. That's what he said and he meant it. We have a problem. So the father, the father had a problem of unbelief. He doesn't mean he didn't believe in Jesus, and all of us, we believe in Jesus, but we have a problem of unbelief. He didn't believe in Jesus and all of us, we believe in Jesus, but we have a problem of unbelief. Are we together there? Do you get that?

Speaker 2:

Let's go to the other group that had unbelief. Not only was the scribes in unbelief, not only was the crowd in unbelief, not only was the crowd in unbelief, not only was the father in unbelief, but also the disciples. Why in unbelief? Wow, the disciples, the disciples, the deliverance ministers themselves, those who are conducting deliverance of the boy. They themselves were in unbelief. How do we know that they were in unbelief? I don't have to guess, I just need to show you in the Bible. So let's go to Matthew, chapter 17, the same account Matthew has revealed to us because he was part of the group and he didn't want to leave that part out. So Matthew chapter 17 complements what we are missing in the account of Mark, matthew, chapter 17. Are you there? Go to Matthew, and all these days we have Bibles we just touch. Go to Matthew, chapter 17. We will read at verse 19. The same account, the same account, matthew 17, verse 19.

Speaker 2:

Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said why could we not cast it out? Okay, these guys were very clever. They didn't want to shame themselves in the presence of the crowd, in the presence of the father, they, in the presence of the Father. They saw Jesus conduct deliverance of the boy and they said and he says then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said why? Jesus said to them because of your unbelief. Do you see that? Do you see that you can understand the reason why the disciples could know?

Speaker 2:

Jesus points a finger, he gives a diagnosis, he gives them directly. He says because of your unbelief. For verily, verily, assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain move from here to there and it will move and nothing will be impossible for you, my God. He repeats the same thing which he had told them in the crowd, what he told the father, what he told the father, he repeats to the disciples again, just in case they missed it. He tells them I was only talking to the crowd. You're asking me why did you fail? Why did the demon didn't come out? When he says you are problem, my disciples was you are unbelief. And they tell them if you have faith, a little faith, like a mustard seed, you will not only do what has been done. You will say to the be removed and be cast somewhere else. And then he has, and nothing shall be impossible for you. Now you know, if we preach that in the church today, people will say Pastor, you are condemning us, you are bringing. It's not condemnation, it's not an attack.

Speaker 2:

Jesus did not ala court or sweeten the words. When the crowd, when the father said I brought my son to you and your disciples could know he cried. He said oh no, don't worry. Oh sorry, my dad, that's not a problem for this guy. That is too high, that's too high for my disciple. You should have waited for me. That was your problem, that was a mistake. You bring no, no, no. He did not try to placate or to. He told them right in the eye. Your problem is unbelievable. When the father turned and said Jesus, can you do it? He said it's not about me, man, it's not about me. The problem is you, if you can believe it. It's not about me, man, it's not about me. The problem is you. If you can believe it, it's going to be possible. Thank God, the Father was honest that I have a problem of unbelief. Please help me overcome my unbelief. And here Jesus tells the disciples your problem, your problem, it's unbelief, because if you believe, all things are possible.

Speaker 2:

Church until we honestly begin to cry out to God. Do you know there is no problem that you are facing which God in heaven cannot do. You know that is audacious. How can you say that? No, it's not me saying. It's Jesus himself, the son of God. He is the one who said all things are possible, beloved. There is no shortcut. Listen to me. God is not going to bend spiritual laws, because it is us. The laws of the kingdom work and you and I must align ourselves with the laws and principles which God works with. When we align ourselves, when we are honest with ourselves, we'll begin to see the hand of God like no other time in the church history. The God of Shadrach, meshach and Abednego is the God I want to see. It's the God I serve, the God you serve. We'll see you in our next teaching. God bless you. I love you. God loves you more, amen.
