Speaker 1:

Hallelujah, welcome to our time for the Word of God, and we have been fellowshipping together on the book of 1 Timothy, 4, verse 7 and 8,. On this subject Exercise Yourself, tow toward godliness. We entered verse 8, where Paul says godliness is profitable for the life that now is and also for the life that is to come. So we will look at today promises for the future. Number one, we will look at the reunion, and then we will look at number two, reigning, and then we will look at number three, rest. So let's start about the promise of reunion and beloved. When Jesus was about to go back to heaven, he started talking to his disciples about his imminent departure, his imminent going back to the Father, and they were troubled, and that's where I want us to begin with. So I will take you to some familiarions. If it were not so, I would have told you I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself that where I am there you may be also Precious, precious promises from the lips of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is speaking to his disciples towards the end of his ministry. He has prepared them. They were in Jerusalem and now they were thinking that he was going to become the Messiah and begin to reign there. So he starts to reveal to them that no, his mission is different, but that he will depart from them, he will leave them. And he's been talking about his father in heaven. And so the disciples, you can imagine with me, they were troubled, they were scared, they were troubled in their hearts because here is a man. These guys had left everything. You have to understand when they chose, when they were called. They left their careers, some of them left their families, they left their jobs to go and be disciples or followers of this Jesus of Nazareth. And they have been with him for three years, going to three and a half years, and he's talking about leaving. He says I am going back to my father and he's been talking of God as his father, that I came from heaven and I am going back to heaven. And this has mixed the disciples and they are troubled. They are troubled.

Speaker 1:

Then he begins to speak word of comfort, powerful words that should remind him. He says don't let your heart be troubled. Of course he's telling them okay, you will have things that will trouble you. You have situations that will come your way, that will make you be troubled, be discouraged, be worried, don't worry about it. Be discouraged, be worried, don't worry about it. He says you believe in God, believe also in me. And then now he exposes precious promise. He says in my father's house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. And then he says I go to prepare a place for you, beloved. These are loaded words.

Speaker 1:

Jesus is talking about a home. He's talking about a father who has a home with many abodes, many dwelling places, as the, the Russians say, in my father's house, many dwelling places. Of course, because of our understanding, we have been imagining about mansions. I'm going to have a mansion in heaven. He says something there very important. He says that I am going there to prepare a place for you. I am going there to prepare a place for you, and when I go and prepare that place, I will come again and receive you to myself, that where I am there, you may be also. Hallelujah, what a glorious promise. He says I am going there, but you guys have to know where I'm going there. It is for you, it is for you. I am going to prepare rooms, a place, a place of a God.

Speaker 1:

I wanted to see that God intended to have a family. We are the children of God. But when man sinned, that fellowship of man with God was broken, there was no way again for man to come and live with God as one member of a family, to be a family of God. And so the price had to be paid. And so the father and the son, a great son, you got to go down there. You got to go and prepare the way, make room, make room for man to be reconciled with us, so that our intentions, our purpose of living with man, whom we had created in our own image, may be accomplished, may be fulfilled. There was no way a sinful man could share and abode with the Holy God in heaven, and there was no way man could attain that for himself. So Jesus came and paid the price. He had to go to the cross, endure the cross and shed his blood for us to be accepted and engrafted back, to become the children of God, to become sons of God.

Speaker 1:

And so Jesus says I am going there, I'm going to prepare a place for you, and when I have prepared that place, oh, he says I will come again. Wow, I will come again. Wow, I will come again and receive you to myself. So he is giving them this that there is going to be a reunion. Yes, I am leaving you. Yes, I'm going to depart. I will not be with you here for long, I am going away. But he tells them it is for your own good, it is to your advantage that I go away, because there is a work.

Speaker 1:

We don't know what Jesus has been doing for 2,000 years, but we know he told us he is going to prepare a place for us and a board for us, mansions for us, whichever way you want to picture it. I don't know whether you want to picture a state of God. I don't think that is what it is like a really hasted property there. But we will be dwelling at dwelling places. There are many, there is more than enough for all who would become the children of God. And then he says I will come back to you. I will come back to you so that, where I am, you may be also Beloved. This is the blessed hope. This is the blessed hope this is a blessed hope that you and I share that Jesus is coming again for us and there is going to be a reunion, a reunion, a reunion, and this is supposed to encourage us to look at this world. Even though there are things troubling here, even though there are conflicts, even though there are sicknesses, even though there's troubles, there's disagreements, there is death and everything that, there is something that we are looking forward to. There is something that we are looking ahead to and that is a reunion of Jesus and God and his children, all who are believers. This is supposed to be at the top of our minds as we focus this.

Speaker 1:

I want to share with you what Paul was reminding the church in Thessalonians. I will take you to 1 Thessalonians 4, verse 13 to 18. Look at what he tells the Thessalonians churches 1 Thessalonians 4, verse 13 through 18. Listen as I read. He says but I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as those who have no hope, for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, god will bring with him those who sleep in Jesus, for this I say to you by the word of the Lord. He tells them this I receive from the Lord, this I say to you by the word of the Lord that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep, for the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise fast. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord, and thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with these words, comfort one another with these words. Precious, precious, precious word of the Lord.

Speaker 1:

What is Paul telling the believers here? They were wondering because they have been taught about. Jesus is coming to take us home, Jesus is coming to receive us. And then they saw the saints die. They were burning believers, so they were distraught. Oh, my goodness, his brother has gone before the Lord has come. Oh, that precious sister has gone before the Lord has come. So it's like the hope is perished.

Speaker 1:

No, paul comes back and says no, no, no, believers, I have something to tell you. Don't sorrow, like those, about those who have fallen asleep, as those who do not have a hope. He was telling them we have a hope that is gone beyond the grave. The grave is not the final thing. The grave has no final word, he says, for we will believe and die in the Lord, we will rise again and God will bring us again alive. And then he says it. And then he says to them I have a revelation.

Speaker 1:

I was given by the Lord himself that those of us who are alive until the coming of the Lord he's speaking about the rapture there are no signs for the rapture. The rapture can happen any time. You have to understand. Even when Paul was writing this, he was expecting it would happen any time. He spoke about the signs of the end time. The end time, second coming, is different from the rapture. I will take some time and teach about the end time events, but for now, the rapture comes before the second coming of the Lord, and he said this can happen anytime.

Speaker 1:

And Paul says those of us he includes himself those of us who will still be alive until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. Believers don't die. Did you know that? We just sleep? We just sleep, this body just goes to sleep. We just sleep, this body just goes to sleep. You just get to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Paul tells the Parisians like that. So those who have fallen asleep will not proceed. Those who have fallen asleep, they are just taken to sleep.

Speaker 1:

But then he says, at the coming of the Lord, for the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout and then with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ, remember, during this resurrection and the dead in Christ will rise fast. So those who are dead, they're the ones who will rise from wherever they are and they will be caught up in the air. They will be caught up in the cloud to meet the Lord. And then those of us who will still be alive if I'll still be alive my body will be changed in a twinkling of an eye. He talks about that in 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, how we'll be changed in a twinkling of an eye, this body will be changed. This dying body will be changed to a body that cannot die. And those who will resurrect, they will receive bodies that cannot die. And then we will be caught up in heaven. We will be caught up in heaven and there, hallelujah, it says we shall be with the Lord.

Speaker 1:

This is about reunion, hallelujah. And if you didn't realize, I've quoted that verse wrongly, deliberately. He didn't say that we will be with the Lord. No, he says and as shall we always that's the word that I deliberately omitted we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with this word Beloved, at the coming of Jesus, when the trumpet sounds, when the trumpet is blown by the angel and the voice of the Lord is heard and the dead in Christ rise up, when we unite with the Lord, when we meet with the Lord, we shall never, ever be separated again. It will be a permanent reunion. That's what Jesus is telling the disciples.

Speaker 1:

Here I am going away. I'm going to prepare a place for you so that where I be, you may be also. So we will be with the Lord. It will be a heaven reunion between God, the Father, and his children. Wow, wow. Can you picture this, brother? Can you picture this, my sister? God has a family that has been away. God has a family that has been away and he has anticipated. He has anticipated, he has been waiting, he has been longing for the day. He said, son, you go pay the price. There is a day when everything is ready, when everything is prepared, when we are ready to go to bring them home, the fellowship we had in mind when we created man had in mind when we created man. We shall unite with him and they will always, always, ever be with us, forever and ever.

Speaker 1:

And then, very secondly, a reigning. Once we are reunited with the Lord, the second thing we have to talk about is us reigning with Christ. Of course, there are some things that will happen. I will not share them now about the marriage supper of the Lamb. When we are caught up after the rapture, we'll come and talk about the marriage supper of the Lamb. That is not for now. But there is a reigning. We are coming back to reign together with the Lord. We will come back to reign together with the Lord. This is what Paul talks about when he talks to us in 2 Timothy.

Speaker 1:

2 Timothy, chapter number 2. 2 Timothy, chapter 2. If you go and read there, verse number 12. He says, let me read that Right. 2 Timothy, chapter 2, verse 12. He says if we endure, we shall also reign with him. If we deny him, he also will deny us. He is coming to take us, we go for the marriage supper of the Lamb and then when we are done, he is coming back again together with us. Remember, we shall not be separated. He is coming together with us and we shall reign.

Speaker 1:

And Paul says here in 2 Timothy 2, in verse 12, if we endure, if we suffer, if we deny ourselves, if we separate ourselves from the world and pursue after godliness, then if we deny ourselves, we shall reign with him. But if we deny him, he will also deny us. I hope you don't deny Jesus, because if you deny him he will deny you before the Father and the angels of the Lord. Look again in Revelation, if you go to Revelation, chapter number 20. Revelation, chapter 20. We will see there. Paul, no, john, not John. I like Paul, I'm always talking about John, paul, but John, john, chapter 20, john 20, all right, let me go to the last book in the Bible, revelation, chapter 20. I'll read verse 4 there. Let me read verse 4. Here we go. Let me read verse 4. Here we go.

Speaker 1:

He says witness to Jesus and for the word of God who had not worshipped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands, and they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. This is the millennial reign. Again, we will not go into too much depth at the moment there is time for us for that but John is being shown thrones. First of all, he says I saw thrones and there were people who were sitting on the thrones. And then he saw something else. He saw those who had been beheaded, those who had suffered during the tribulation period. The church, I believe, will not be there in the tribulation period, but the Bible, the gospel, will still be preached. And there's those who will refuse to receive the mark of the beast and they will be beheaded, they will be killed, they will be martyrs for Christ. These ones will rise again. So there's going to be another resurrection at the second coming of Jesus.

Speaker 1:

Again, we will speak about this, just hold your horses. We will speak about the different resurrections that are there in the Bible. So there is the first resurrection, that is for believers in Christ. Only at the rapture, only those who are saved will rise again. But then there is another resurrection those who the Old Testament saints and also those who will be saved after the rapture has already happened, but they are saved. During the tribulation period. They did not receive the mark of the beast. So they will be saved and they will resurrect to be together with the saints who had already met the Lord during the rapture. And we are told, we will reign here on earth for 1,000 years. Will you be there? So there is a reunion, there is a reigning with Christ, and then there is rest for the people of God, rest for the saints, rest for those who are born again, those who have accepted God, those who have submitted to God, those who have pursued holiness and righteousness and wanting to dwell and live with God forever and ever. There is a time of entering into the rest of God. This is the glorious inheritance that is awaiting for us.

Speaker 1:

Let me read with you Revelation, chapter 20. We'll read verse 21. I'm sorry. Revelation 21,. Verse 1, 2, 3, and 4. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Revelation 21. Listen, it says this.

Speaker 1:

Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also, there was no more sea. Then I, john, saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband, and I heard a loud voice from heaven. Heaven is very loud, apparently, and I heard a loud voice from heaven saying behold, the tabernacle of God is with men and he will dwell with them and they shall be his people. God himself will be with them and be their God, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.

Speaker 1:

Then he who sat on the throne said behold, I make all things new. And he said to me right, for these words are true and faithful. You should be shouting hallelujah right there. Amen and amen. I know you are shouting. He says there is a time when God is going to make everything new. This earth as we know it will be destroyed, but Peter said it will melt like water. And then these heavens that we know, the way we know them, they will all disappear. As with the roar, there will be a shout, there will be a sound and everything will disappear and God will make a new heaven. And he says and I saw a new Jerusalem coming down from heaven and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And behold, the tabernacle of God is with men. God will dwell with us. Jesus will be on the throne and we are told, there will be no more death, no more sorrow, no more crying, no more pain. The whole things are passed away. No more pain. The whole things are passed away and behold, all things have become new.

Speaker 1:

Beloved, this is the blessed hope. This is the hope that we are looking forward to. This is what is keeping you and I going, no matter what we are going through now, no matter the pains, no matter the pains, no matter the struggles, no matter the confusion, no matter the trouble that you are in, no matter misunderstandings that you have. Don't lose heart. Don't lose your focus. The Bible says the one who endures to the end, he shall be saved. Don't lose your eyes from the prize. Keep your eyes to the fun. Focus on the prize, because we are going home. This world is not our home. Beloved, there is a glorious future. Don't be held by this wall. This wall and all its pleasures are fleeting. They are passing through. The treasures are laid up yonder. There is something precious that is awaiting us. There is something glorious, something beautiful that is awaiting you and I. Something beautiful that is awaiting you and I, no matter what you're going through now. If this life should come and end, don't you worry, don't let your heart be troubled, brother, don't let your heart be troubled sister. You're going to get home and when you arrive home, suddenly you realize, wow, I am home. Wow, and guess who will be welcoming you home? Guess who will be welcoming you home Jesus, the Son of God, who will be saying welcome thou, god and faithful servant. You are faithful in little. I will make you a judge of more. You endured, you endured. You are faithful unto death. I will give you a crown of life. I want to close.

Speaker 1:

Maybe you're watching this telecast and you're saying, pastor, I want to be there. I want to be there when the road is cold up yonder, when the saints go marching in, right the song that we use oh, when the saints go marching in. Oh, when the saints go marching in. Oh, when the saints go marching in, oh, lord, I want to be among the number. Oh, when the saints go marching in. Oh, when the saints go marching in, lord, I want to be among them. Will you be there? I want to invite you to make that decision.

Speaker 1:

Maybe you slid away from God and this world was too much for you and you were drawn away by the fleeting pleasures that never satisfy, and you are drawn away from Christ. Oh, you can come back. He longs for you. When one is lost, he comes for that one that is lost and you just need to say Lord, forgive me, lord, have mercy over me. I want to be amongst the number. I want to embrace this blessed hope. This world is not my home. No matter beloved, no matter how much you cling to this world, no matter how long you want to live in this world, no matter how much you want to be comfortable. You want to enjoy the place. You will leave this world. This world is not our home. We're just passing through.

Speaker 1:

It is an exercise to prepare us for the eternal life, life without an end. Embrace this. Tell the Lord I need you in my life. Maybe you have never given your life to Jesus and you have been toying with this idea. Should I, should I not? This is your time, this is your moment. Say yes to Jesus and if you're saying that, just close your eyes or just say this prayer Say Jesus, forgive my sins, enter into my heart and take full control. Today I accept you as my Lord and my Savior. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me. Well, if you pray that prayer sincerely, I want to welcome you to the family of God.
